My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows is a hilarious retelling of Lady Jane Grey! According to history, Lady Jane Grey was queen for 9 days before she quite literally lost her head… After reading this book you’re going to want to question what really happened. This books does a really good job with keeping readers interested and had a magical element to it! Fans of all sorts of genres will enjoy this story full of laughs, romance, magic, and politics.

King Edward at age 16 is ruler of England. Sadly he is on the verge of dying. He’d rather be having his first kiss, than be choosing who inherits his crown.

Jane Grey is Edward’s cousin, and is far more interested in reading books than in romance. Unfortunately for Jane, Edward has arranged to marry her off to secure the line of succession. And there is something odd about her intended…

Gifford Dudley is a horse. That is, he’s an Ethane (eth-y-un). Everyday at dawn he becomes a noble chestnut steed. Then he awakens at dusk as human, with a mouthful of hay.

The Plot Thicken as Edward, Jane, and Gifford are drawn into a dangerous conspiracy. With the fate of the kingdom at stakes, out heroes will have to engage in some conspiring of their own. But can they pull off their plan before it’s off with their heads?

I personally would give this book a solid 5/5 stars! Many people decide not to pick this book up because of the history element. But I assure you... you won’t even realize the historical part! The book had so much to give. I really enjoyed the author's adding the magic element, because I am a huge fantasy fan. Now speaking of romance… this book did so well with that aspect. Although Jane and Gifford are forcefully married, they slowly start to truly care and love for one another. I loved all the parts of the book where the two had their moments! I also loved how all the characters were introduced and how they changed throughout the story. The best part of all...this book ended in such a happy way! No loved characters were killed, and everyone that deserved a happy ending got one!
