Olivia Twisted by Vivi Barnes
Olivia Twisted is a modern-day exciting retelling of the classic Oliver Twist. With a variety of parallels to the classic, the story takes on a whole new turn with lots of twists that will have you turning page after page, desperate to find out what happens.
Olivia, or Liv as we know her, is an orphan, passed from foster home to foster home, she's never really fit in anywhere. But when she meets Sam and Z at school, they introduce her to a life of hacking and cyber crime that she doesn't want to be a part of, but may be in too deep to get out.
I read this book in two sittings, desperate to find out what was going to happen to Liv. She was my favourite character by far, feeling as though she was a real character who had depth and I was actually interested in her finding her happy ending. The romance aspect of this book was quite a big part, but it fit in with the story in a way that didn't take away any of the drama, it simply added an extra dimension to the characters that allowed us to question the real motives behind everything.
I would highly recommend reading this book, it was a great read and an interesting take on an old classic. That being said - if you've never read Oliver Twist and are unfamiliar with the story, this book is still an exciting thriller in its own right and you will have no problem sinking your teeth into the drama.
